Extra Life

FROM FUNDRAISER TO ON SCREEN

Ready when you go live.

Connect your Extra Life page, copy your private browser-source links, and give each donation its moment. Your local server is not needed.

1. Connect your fundraiser

Enter your Extra Life fundraising URL, numeric participant ID, or custom alias. Check the name and event on your new desk. Every setup has a separate reading list and alert queue, even if another person connects the same page.

Copy and save your private management link. It works on another device. Anyone with it can use your controls. No sign-in is required, and there is no account recovery if you lose it. This browser also remembers setups when storage is available.

2. Add the thermometer

In OBS, choose Sources → + → Browser. Paste your thermometer URL. Set Width 1920, Height 140, then position and scale it in your scene. The outer background is transparent.

3. Add live donation alerts

Add another Browser source using your alert URL. Set Width 900, Height 320. Enable Control audio via OBS to route sound through the OBS mixer. Leave Shutdown source when not visible and Refresh browser when scene becomes active unchecked so scene changes do not interrupt an alert.

Reuse the same source across scenes. Click Send a test alert and check both the animation and your recording’s audio. Browser previews may require “Enable alert sound.” Close the preview before streaming: it consumes alerts from the same queue as OBS.

New donations appear after Extra Life updates and the next polling cycle (approximately 15–30 seconds under normal conditions, longer during service delays). Existing donations load as read history and do not trigger alerts. New donations wait while alerts are paused or the overlay is closed. An interrupted alert may replay after 30 seconds; completed alerts are acknowledged.

4. Keep your shout-outs close

Use your stream desk, or add your private donation dock URL under Docks → Custom Browser Docks in OBS. Mark donations read as you thank people. Read status does not dismiss the on-screen alert. Use Newer and Older to page through history. Unread filters the current page.

Mute sound or pause alerts from your desk. Donor messages stay off screen by default; you can enable them deliberately. Anonymous names and hidden amounts are respected. Test alerts are labeled and never change totals or the reading list.

Keep your links private

OBS links can display and acknowledge alerts, but cannot change settings or mark donations read. Management and reading-dock links have control access. Keep these out of public chat and screen captures. If an OBS link is exposed, use Replace OBS links and update your sources.

Connecting a fundraiser does not verify ownership of its Extra Life account. This tool reads public data only; it cannot edit your fundraising page or process donations.
